Digii100 Summit 2025 | New Delhi
The Convergence Effect:
Industry & Academia as One Ecosystem
“From Dialogue to Durable Industry–Academia Convergence”
This playbook captures how academic leaders and industry practitioners address the persistent gap between classroom learning and workplace performance. Based on candid roundtable exchanges across sectors, it examines why partnerships remain episodic, why curriculum alignment slows under structural constraints, and why collaboration often lacks shared accountability. It distils these insights into practical guidance on co-designing curriculum, embedding structured industry engagement into degree pathways, aligning research with business value, and building sustained collaboration beyond conferences and summits.
Key Discussion Pillars
Structured Industry Integration
- Design degree programmes that embed internships, rotational OJT, and work-integrated learning from early stages.
- Move beyond episodic placements to sustained industry exposure across semesters.
Curriculum Co-Design
- Increase meaningful industry participation in Boards of Studies and credit-bearing modules.
- Align academic frameworks with evolving sector requirements without diluting foundational learning.
Research and Investment Alignment
- Encourage industry-backed research projects, endowments, and funded labs.
- Build long-term partnerships that create shared ownership in innovation outcomes.
Employability with Academic Depth
- Prepare students for immediate workplace contribution while strengthening critical thinking and research capability.
- Balance short-term productivity goals with long-term national innovation objectives.

Where These Conversations Happened
The Digii100 Summit 2025 was held on 13 December in New Delhi, and brought together over 300 Indian HEI leaders, policymakers, and industry partners.
The one-day, multi-track summit focused on how Indian higher education can use digital systems to strengthen governance, teaching, research, and student outcomes in line with the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Across keynotes, panels, and closed-door roundtables, leaders examined issues such as institutional strategy, digital infrastructure, research management, industry collaboration, and academic quality.
One of these focused sessions was “The Research Playbook: Guiding India’s HEIs from Teaching-Only to Research-Driven.”
This playbook is based on the discussions and practical experiences shared in that roundtable.
